Storm Stoppers® May Qualify for a Homeowner's Insurance Discount:

Many of our customers receive homeowner's insurance discounts with their use of Storm Stoppers®. First Protective Insurance of Ft. Lauderdale' customer Dick Sanders of Estero, Florida has saved over $1,500 off his homeowner's insurance since 2006.

Like Dick, Storm Stoppers® customers need to submit Storm Stoppers® ASTM E 1886 & ASTM E 1996 Missile Level C Lab Impact Test Report to their insurance company. New customers will receive this with their purchase. If you are an existing customer and haven't received a certified copy of our Lab Impact Test Report, please fill out our Contact Us Form with "Certified Test Report Request" in the description area. We will process your request and mail you a certified copy within 48 hours. The certified Storm Stoppers® Lab Impact Test Report is printed on a special "Kan't Kopy" paper and will produce an "Unauthorized Duplication" message if faxed, scanned or copied. Thus, it is only possible to mail it to you. Along with our Lab Impact Test Report will be an OIR-B1-1802 Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form, described below.

If you are a Florida homeowner looking for a non-biased insurance mitigation inspection, please call Caribbean Inspections at 866-261-2242 or click their logo below.

About the Uniform Mitigation Inspection Form (OIR-B1-1802):

Storm Stoppers® meets the 3rd requirement under the "Hurricane" rating of Section 8, "Opening Protection" on the second page of the insurance industry's standard Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection form. This is known both as:

You can download each form by clicking the above links. Section 8 "Opening Protection" on both forms reads as follows:

As you can read above, to meet the requirements of the "Hurricane" rating under Section 8, "Opening Protection," "all the exterior openings must be fully protected with impact resistant coverings that meet the requirements of ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E 1996 for Missile Level C." Original 3/8" Storm Stoppers® meets this requirement and you would simply provide our Missile Level C Test Report to your insurance company as proof.
If you have any questions, please contact my office at 407-423-5959. Thank you.

Sincerely,

John D. Smith, President & Inventor

Special Caution about Dishonest Wind Mitigation Companies:

If you are having a Wind Mitigation Inspection, please be aware that there are several Florida-based inspection companies & wind certification entities (WCE’s) that choose to ignore Storm Stoppers® Large Missile Impact Test ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E 1996 Missile Level C compliance as meeting the Hurricane Rating on the Mitigation Form described above. Dishonest inspection companies misrepresent and selectively interpret the mandates set forth in the OIR-B1-1802 & WBDR 1802 forms. This selective interpretation tends to steer homeowners to selecting only Florida Building Code and Miami Dade approved products.

This bias may be caused by these inspection companies being influenced by special interest groups in the bolt-on shutter industry. If you see evidence of this, or have been victimized by a biased Uniform Mitigation Report, please email us: Contact Us Form and provide us with a copy so that we may have a 3rd Party Engineer review the findings. We will then assist you in obtaining the proper credits and homeowners’ insurance discounts you are entitled to.
